2048 Classic

2048 Classic is a number-merging puzzle where you slide squares across the board and combine matching values. When two identical numbers meet, they merge into one square holding double that value: two 2s become 4, two 4s become 8, two 8s become 16, and the chain continues upward. Your aim is to keep combining numbers until you reach 2048.

Controls

You can move the squares using arrow keys, a mouse, or touch input, depending on your device. Each move shifts the tiles in the chosen direction, and any two matching squares that collide merge automatically.

Basic Approach

Focus on keeping your largest tiles grouped along one edge so they stay easy to pair. Leave some open space for new squares to land, and look ahead to see which merges will produce a tile that can soon meet another of the same value. Work in small steps: merge two 8s into a 16, then bring that 16 beside an existing 16, and so on.

Practical Tips

• Commit to a primary direction for most moves, but deviate when a sideways or opposite slide would create a needed match.
• Before sliding, scan the board for identical numbers sitting close together.
• Treat each merge as a step toward a specific target rather than an automatic win.
• If one area becomes crowded, rearrange nearby tiles to free space before continuing.
